It’s actually exceeding the revenue expectations set at the center’s opening when it was conceived with a major sporting team’s involvement. With major music tours, college basketball, expos and shows – the Sprint Center might just be okay without another sporting team.

For non-NHL markets, I think playoff TV ratings are a better indicator.

If taxpayers are stupid enough to build a professional sports arena to subsidize an industry where the average salary is in the many millions, and patrons are generally very well off, then I have no sympathy for them when things go bust. I think P.T. Barnum said it best.
