The problem with Semin is hes so talented and dynamic that its easy to look past him constantly turning the puck over in the neutral zone. I wouldnt be surprised to hear that hes terrible in the locker room, which to me is where the Caps have their biggest issue.

I think the player they should move for cap issues is Mike Green. Its obvious Carlson and Alzner are their top d-pair and will limit Greens time on ice. Here in Washington people will always expect him to put up 30 goals a year, and lets be honest, thats very unrealistic. Plus this will help simplify a power play that has immense talent but at times lacks direction. The Caps could probably get a good return for him and a change of scenery could really help alleviate some of the pressure from his shoulders.

I will be upset if he is traded. He is not lazy, he does take stupid penalties but man he is fun to watch. My favorite Semin moment was when he put a fifty foot laser past Tim Thomas about 5 sec into an ot game. Thomas reaction was priceless.

4.5 does seem like a lot but look around the league at who is making 4.5...its an eye-opener.

Scott Hartnell has been raking in 4+ for the last 4 years. I'll take Laich over that ape anyday.

Brian Gionta 5 mil?

Kristian Huselius 4.7? Who?

i dont see how you can justify 4.5 mill for Laich but i like brouwer and i think he will do well. was he worth 2.3 million per year right now over a possible 1st round pick? we shall see, he has won a cup and maybe he is the kind of guy they need...
