All of these moves were (for the most part) salary related moves in order to sign Bryzgalov. I’m guessing the Richards move was a leadership related move. I don’t think he’s evolved into the captain that everyone expected. The team was a different team when Pronger was on the ice versus when he was not. Either way, the move lets them sign a lot of player that were question marks for returning back to the team next year, and it allows them to give some of these younger guys a shot.

I’m fully expecting Schenn to be on the Flyers next year. Granted I’ve never seen him play outside of some youtube highlights, but looking at his stats I’m not sure there’s much left to prove playing in juniors and AHL. He’s clearly dominant in the lower ranks, time to see what he can do on the big stage.

I know this much…when my Caps play Philly next season, I’m expecting an easier time of it. From Phillys perspective I cant make sense of all this unless these guys were really not committed or locker room trouble,
