He’s 3 years into a 5 year $20 million contract with Calgary, and the $4 million per year average is right in line with the Sabres’ general signings.

He also fits an immediate need in a 1st line defenseman to go along with Tyler Myers, who should be next in the Sabres’ long term signing lineup. If this deal gets done, it willl leave Buffalo only a few offensive pieces away from being serious contenders in the East.
