As much success as Philadelphia had in 2010-2011, their daily goalie-swap was embarrassing. This contract feels like a publicity statement to stop the humiliation more than anything. Bryzgalov’s best years may already be behind him, and in a weaker Western Conference. Either way, he jumps to the top of the goalie salary list in 2011

It’s going to be interesting to see how their players develop in the next few years and how their team is able to react to this situation. They were supposed to have those guys as cornerstones for a decade and now that’s all down the drain. I guess it’s up to Giroux, Van Riemsdyk and well…Bryzzzy and his fat contract. I think the Flyers upset a large majority of their fan base with these moves. Also, with this deal, it leaves the Flyers up against the cap once again, only allowing them to sign mediocre free-agents.
