what the +/- says is that they were basically better when he was not on the ice. this is like a Derek Jeter gold glove. spin it how you want, but what a sham.

Right, that would make sense in a vacuum where the other candidates were not Weber or Chara.

Plus/minus is skewed in a small sample. But given the course of a season, a Norris winner should NOT be a -2 player.

Two better options were passed up because a bunch of voters didn’t know Lidstrom was still going to play another year.

first of all, +/- is a skewed statistic. Judging defensemen requires a more qualitative approach than forwards. His positioning is impeccable. He never gets beat wide, flat out.

How can you justify a guy with a negative plus/minus over Weber or Chara?
