I am a Lightning fan, but I think the press is overselling Thomas’ “guarantee”. It’s not like some kind of brash Joe Namath thing.

I’d say Thomas is saying exactly what he should be saying. What were you expecting? “We’re hosed, Tampa has our number, see you next year, anyone seen my golf clubs?”

When you’re facing a tough time like this, you want to see someone in that locker room step up and be that voice that gets everyone on the same page. Think Patrick Roy back in his prime, for example, or Mark Messier. Thomas isn’t up there with guys like that perhaps, but he’s making himself that sort of personality for Game 5. Will it work? He’ll be a huge part of the answer either way, but I’m glad someone is saying this stuff anyway.

Gee wizz, the other team thinks their going to win. How dare they!

I mean, seriously? I never got this. How is the other team thinking they are going to win something to get “fired up” about? Its a no brainer the other team thinks they are going to win, and beside the point these guys are paid professionels… they shouldn’t need something to get fired up over. They should go out and do their damn job.

Good luck to the Bruins. I think the Lightning have a lot going for them including their losing is not an option attitude.
