It’s not a text document, it’s mostly video. They often show clips with audio on cbc. You can buy a copy of it at Nhlofficialsguide.com under back issues. I became familiar with it while I was a AAA ref. It’s hardly magical. It’s given to all members of the media before the season.

I’m glad you’ve figured out how to cut and paste. I really am, but you should be looking at the NHL casebook, which is the supplemental material to the rulebook. The casebook goes into much more detail with examples. An example of where the two differ is in interference. According to the definition of interference, there would be a penalty on nearly every play. The casebook differentiates between what should be called and what shouldn’t. There’s where it makes mention of leaving ones feet while making a check.

This is bad for the Sharks. Really bad. Clowe may be the Sharks best player. This loss could cripple the team and hand a free victory to Detroit. Time for SJ to show how tough they really are.

you’re a moron. you could call almost any check in hockey a “charge” because by definition the rulebook states “the actions of a player who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner.” it also says “jumps into” and when someone “jumps into” another player…thats when the penalty is called. nowhere does it say “leave feet”. big difference between jumping into someone and leaving your feet.

Kronwall regularly leaves his feet when making those hits. That’s Charging. I think if he played for any other team people would think he’s dirty, but for the last ten years the wings get the benefit of the doubt. It’s similar to all of lidstroms stick checks which are hooks to most other players in the league.
