yet another reason for abolishing the instigator rule. there is no reason a little bitch like pat kane, or whoever it was, should be allowed to chirp from the bench and not have to back up his words with his fists. take out the instigator rule and the respect level on the ice would probably go up a few notches

Accidentally making knee-to-knee contact =/= chirping at someone when their face is cut done the middle. If you actually watched the video Thornton didn’t stick his leg out, He went for a body to body hit and Niklas tried to avoid it. Shawn’s never been a player to do that.

You’re right about the leg check. That hasn’t been Thorton’s style since he’s been in Boston.
Chara had a few words and more for Toews too. Not much he could do about it either.

Maybe the chirping had to do with Thornton sticking out his leg and giving a dangerous cheapshot to Niklas Hjalmarsson in the first period?
