Goal of the night: Tyler Ennis’ deke and destroy goal against Ottawa

Tyler Ennis, Craig Anderson AP

Aside from the occasional night off – or the even less common instance when a save or goal isn’t deemed worthy – the gang at PHT will decide which tally or stop is the best of any given night. Once those two winners are determined, we’ll share our reasoning (and most importantly, the video clip for each) in posts for your viewing pleasure.

Buffalo’s Tyler Ennis is having a fine breakout season this year and his two goal game against Ottawa in the Sabres 6-4 win featured a pair of memorable goals. His first of the game saw him make a nice move to beat Craig Anderson, but his memorable goal came later on when he was able to deke around Chris Phillips and rip a snap shot past Anderson wrecking his water bottle in the process.

Lindy said this goal was very reminiscent of the goals that Rick Martin would score – I believe his words were “the mirror image of one of Rick’s goals”.

Very fitting for him to have such an amazing goal, in such amazing style.

    RIP #7
