that crosscheck wasnt brutal, but it still was a crosscheck and with dans momentum komisarek knew what he was doing. dan was pllaying the puck and had no chance to save himself from the boards, the call was good but i dont know if i would have given him a game misconduct.

The call on Komisarek was a bad one, probably not even a penalty at all much rather than a major and a game misconduct. I suspect that the refs were over reacting to the bad press following the Chara hit in Montreal. Carcillo’s comments were indicative of the goon that he is.

One thing: If you take your stick and shove down from behind on the top cuff of any player’s pants, it’s going to throw the player backwards and make him fall just as easily as a trip or hook. Carcillo has embellished on other occasions, but this is clearly not the case here. Believe me. NHL defencemen know they can do this and get away with it, because it doesn’t look like a trip or even a cross check really. Years ago, Stu Grimson showed me how to do it at a hockey camp, and I could knock any of you down with it, and I’m only 5’6″. So I think the ref made the right call. It would’ve been one thing if Komisarek had done that in front of his goal, but along the boards there, that’s a chicken$#!^ play, deserving the penalties it received. There needs to be a higher level of respect for other players and their knees and heads.

anyone here been pushed on ice from behind? it doesnt matter if its a tap or a big hit. you lose balance. and doing it 3 feet from the boards is dangerous. period.

play ice hockey for 8 years like i did and tell me that you wouldnt go down like that being hit unexpectedly from behind that close to the boards.

I never said Philly didn’t deserve to win did I now? Philly’s a top team in the league, it’s not surprising that they won.

I do however believe that Carcillo is a pussy for what he did here. Taking advantage of the publicity around such hits and the aftermath of the Chara hit made it a walk in the park for him to sell it; there’s almost no way the refs couldn’t call it knowing all that.

And I’m glad you watched it that many times, because I only had to watch it a few times to realize that Komisarek exerts no force on Carcillo, there’s no “pushing” motion as we’ve seen in similar hits that have caused serious injury to players. He felt the stick on his back and went down. Komisarek didn’t deserve to get tossed out of the game for that.

By “never shying away” does that mean not fighting players like Luke Schenn or Mike Brown but being eager to tangle with Carl Gunnerson?

He yapped the entire game, scrummed it up like a pro, but only when the ref or linesman was in between. Players like him, Cooke, Avery, and even Tucker when he was playing annoyed the crap out of me.

I forgot that loose cannon that the Leafs signed from the Islanders who got suspended a couple times then the Leafs dispacthed him to the minors.

Team get fed oup of fighting players’ battles. It’s not right that Sean O’Donnel got a roughing minor for having to stand up for Carcillo’s contant chirping.

Get rid of helmets, like the old days and guys won’t be pulling this stuff anymore because it would be solved by fellow teamates and the unwritten code of ethics which died when the players started to ware armour like roman warraiors. Hull, Orr, Clark, Howe, Richard all played without helmets and had long careers because during their era’s the player had sportmanship ethics which is dead in our society. It is all about winning even if you have to cheat. Modern hubris and ignorance is the new meme.

Yea I believe I WATCHED the video, I think I watched it possibly 6 or 7 times? I can’t remember but the bottom line is I have seen it more then once

The major never cost the Leafs the game the Flyers kept them in the game by hitting the post 3 times during the game, not to mention the ref’s blowing plays dead when the puck is still in play

Don’t be mad that the Flyer’s beat up on the Leafs physically for 60 minuets and came out on top, Like USUAL

I believe YOU didn’t see the video. It’s clear Komisarek barely touched Carcillo, not to mention Carcillo seemed to skate into a rut at the same time (unsurprising). He could have won an oscar for that.

It’s unfortunate because while you have the case of serious injuries resulting from similar hits you also have idiots like Carcillo who will take advantage knowing full well that selling the hit will result in a hefty penalty. Take a look at 0:22, and see for yourself. That 5 minute major effectively cost the leafs the game.

Isn’t it funny how quickly Carcillo returned to the ice and was talking smack the rest of the game?
