I am more then thrilled all he got was a fine. Meyer hit high he had to strech to hit where he did. He is lucky Ference got to him first. Lucic could have leveled him in three hits or less. I can’t belive the dirty hit by Meye was ignored by the officals so someone had to remind him that dirty hits are not going unresponded to

I liked response by Ference, Lucic and the the rest of the line – beats the heck out of lack of response to the hit on Savard last year. I am sure the B’s can handle one game without Luc, but in the long run this is good for the team. Old time hockey always let the players police the game and it should still be the case especially now when the game is officiated so poorly, when the players are getting questionable calls or non-calls, and when NHL can’t seem to stand behind it’s own rules. Meyer got his ear ringed up – well, good for Lucic, Freddy would think twice next time hunting for the head. Too bad Thornton was not on the ice…

There’s no instant replay on the ice. In real time, it looked like a dirty hit to everybody.

Ference should have let Lucic have first crack and all you probably would have had was a couple fighting majors and an entertaining scrum.

I disagree. Lucic has had his clock cleaned many of time without incident. Andrew Ference who is not know for his physical presence saw it and attacked also that should tell you something. Isn’t the NHL supposed to be cracking down on hits to the head. Unless Lucic’s chin is attached to his shoulder i don’t know what you are looking at. Meyers clearly makes contact with his chin.

My opinion……. the hit by Meyers was not high, he was hit in the shoulder-chest, not in the head. Lucic was PO’ed that he was leveled by a smaller player. Lucic needs an extended rest for the sucker punch.
