Whether you’re interested for fantasy hockey reasons or just want to know which goalie your team is playing in a given day, we thought it might be helpful to share our best guesses (based on various previews from newspapers and Web sites plus our own instincts) on who might start each day.
7:00 pm ET game
Calgary @ Chicago
Likely Calgary starter: Miikka Kiprusoff - I’m surprised my browser hasn’t become self-aware enough to auto-fill this entry after yet another Kipper nod. (Source.)
Likely Chicago starter: Corey Crawford - Sometimes hockey math can make things simple. The last five times Crawford started, the Blackhawks are 5-0. In Marty Turco’s last three starts, Chicago is 0-3. Pretty straightforward stuff, eh? (Source.)
8:00 pm ET game
Phoenix @ Anaheim
Likely Phoenix starter: Ilya Bryzgalov - He only allowed one regulation goal yet lost to the Florida Panthers yesterday in a shootout. I thought there might be a chance that Jason LaBarbera would get the nod, but it sounds like Breezy will get his chance to break his three game losing streak tonight. (Source.)
Likely Anaheim starter: Jonas Hiller - At this point, I’m going to assume more often than not that Hiller will get the start. The Ducks tend to be pretty coy about it, generally speaking.
9:00 pm ET game
St. Louis @ Vancouver
Likely St. Louis starter: Jaroslav Halak - As bad as things have been for Halak lately, Ty Conklin hasn’t been any better. I haven’t been able to find confirmation on this, but Halak is my best guess. (Source.)
Likely Vancouver starter: Roberto Luongo - Far from shocking news that Luongo will play once again after coming off a shutout of the hated Chicago Blackhawks on Friday. (Source.)
