Whether you’re interested for fantasy hockey reasons or just want to know which goalie your team is playing in a given day, we thought it might be helpful to share our best guesses (based on various previews from newspapers and Web sites plus our own instincts) on who might start each day.

10:00 pm ET game

St. Louis @ Edmonton

Likely St. Louis starter: Jaroslav Halak - The one bit of good news for Halak (lost three in a row) and the Blues (lost four in a row) is that their schedule will soften up a bit this month after a challenging November. (Source.)

Likely Edmonton starter: Nikolai Khabibulin - Maybe Khabibulin is better if given more rest? He started off the 2010-11 season strong, then regressed and then he came back from injury with a shutout. (Source.)

10:30 PM ET game

Detroit @ Los Angeles

Likely Detroit starter: Chris Osgood - Jimmy Howard earned a shutout in his last start, but he appeared in a lot of games in a row so Osgood’s nod is justified. It would behoove the Red Wings (and Osgood) for the veteran to prove that he can spell Howard more often. (Source.)

Likely Los Angeles starter: Jonathan Quick - It’s one thing to beat Florida but a whole other ball game when you’re talking about arguably the best team in the NHL in Detroit. (Source.)
