Bob Plager&#039;s hip-checks sent people skates over appetite in the 60&#039;s and 70s, but he was looking to knock the puck-carrier off the puck!  Players &lt;i&gt;are&lt;/i&gt; bigger, stronger, and &lt;i&gt;faster&lt;/i&gt;; leading to harder collisions as well.]]></description>
