Whether you’re interested for fantasy hockey reasons or just want to know which goalie your team is playing in a given day, we thought it might be helpful to share our best guesses (based on various previews from newspapers and Web sites plus our own instincts) on who might start each day.

7:00 PM ET games

NY Rangers @ New Jersey

Likely NY Rangers starter: Henrik Lundqvist – It makes sense that he’d play this rivalry game … or just about any other contest. (Source: Andrew Gross.)

Likely New Jersey starter: Johan Hedberg – Martin Brodeur is going to miss a little time, which gives “The Moose” a chance to earn a start or two. (Source: Tom Gulitti.)

Boston @ Washington

Likely Boston starter: Tim Thomas – When you start the season 7-0, chances are, you’ll receive playing time. (Source: Boston Globe.)

Likely Washington starter: Michal Neuvirth – He’s been playing well enough that Semyon Varlamov can take his time healing up from his groin injury. (Source: Caps Insider.)

7:30 PM ET games

Montreal @ Buffalo

Likely Montreal starter: Carey Price – No surprise here. (Source: Habs Inside Out.)

Likely Buffalo starter: Patrick Lalime – With Ryan Miller out and Jhonas Enroth coming off a horrible game, it has to be Lalime. Boy, the Sabres are in big trouble. (Source: Mike Harrington.)

Carolina @ Florida

Likely Carolina starter: Cam Ward – Pardon my obvious observation, but the Hurricanes are a far more formidable team with Ward than without him. (Source: Canes Country.)

Likely Florida starter: Tomas Vokoun – Same for the Panthers and Vokoun, conveniently enough. (Source: George Richards.)

8:00 PM ET game

Calgary @ Minnesota

Likely Calgary starter: Miikka Kiprusoff – Kipper is in on the Battle of the workhorse Finns tonight. (Source: Calgary Herald.)

Likely Minnesota starter: Niklas Backstrom (Source: Minnesota Wild Web site.)

8:30 PM ET game

Phoenix @ Dallas

Likely Phoenix starter: Ilya Bryzgalov – He poses another threat for the hot-and-cold (suddenly hot) Dallas Stars. (Source: Phoenix Coyotes Web site.)

Likely Dallas starter: Kari Lehtonen  – He earned a relatively easy win against the Penguins after getting a solid rest. (Source: ESPN Dallas.)

9:00 PM ET game

Detroit @ Edmonton

Likely Detroit starter: Jimmy Howard (Source: Winging it in Motown.)

Likely Edmonton starter: Nikolai Khabibulin – (Source: Edmonton Oilers Web site.)

10:00 PM ET game

Pittsburgh @ Anaheim

Likely Pittsburgh starter: Marc-Andre Fleury – No surprise here after Brent Johnson finally lost in regulation in a big way against the Dallas Stars. (Source: Inside Pittsburgh Sports.)

Likely Anaheim starter: Jonas Hiller – The Ducks need to make this homestand count, so Hiller will get a bunch of starts. (Source: OC Register.)
