Alex Ovechkin answers questions about dream linemates, milk and other fascinating subjects

Oct 18, 2010, 8:59 PM EDT

If you were to construct the ultimate video game scoring line, it might just involve Alex Ovechkin, Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky. Lemieux and Gretzky were Ovechkin’s two choices for dream linemates when prompted by an ESPN reader’s questions as the Washington Capitals superstar did a little Q & A with the network’s resident puckhead John Buccigross.

Apparently Ovechkin was on hand to film a “top secret” commercial for the sports network’s popular “This is Sportscenter” series so he took out some time to shed some light on a variety of subjects with his gradually improving English-speaking abilities. (My all-time favorite commercial is probably the old one with Evander Holyfield and former New York Rangers defenseman Jeff Buekeboom, but the vast majority of those spots are clever-to-hysterical.)

Anyway, if you’re interested in hearing Ovechkin speak about milk preferences, his physical playing style and on, check out the video below and the ESPN article here.

Gretzky was a great player, Lemieux was a great player, Ovechkin is a good playerand I’ll even say a very good player, but he will never be considered great because you have to be a team player to be great! Gretzky & Lemieux are and always will be a “Class Act”, but Ovechkin is all about “Ovechkin” and should never be mentioned in the same article as Gretzky & Lemieux!!!

well clearly you only watch caps games when they play your team…your about 100% wrong. He’s no Gretzky or Lemieux yet. But he’s grown into a hell of a team player, I think you’ll realize at the end of the season that there is a reason that he’ll be a top point getter once again, with an extraordinary balance between goals and assist….

You are right, I don’t get to see alot of Caps games, and if I’m 100% wrong then I don’t have any problem admitting it. I haven’t seen it yet, but I will try to follow a little bit closer. If he has grown into a team player like you say, then Yes, he could end up being one of the all-time greats of the game…….I take nothing away from his skills!
Hell, I only get to watch the Wings most of the time by recording the games due to my schedule. But, you checked me on my comment, and being a true hockey fan the only thing that I can do now is watch more Cap’s games, and if I’m wrong then I will get on the Ovechkin bandwagon……but if I don’t see it……you will hear the “showboat” commit again. Fair enough?
