Your morning moment of zen: Jay Rosehill pounds Zack Smith

Sep 22, 2010, 9:00 AM EDT

Pre-season NHL action isn’t usually something to get overly excited about. Sure, we’ve got you covered with quick recaps of last night’s action but what else is better to get you in the mood for hockey season than a good ‘ol fashioned slobberknocker.

Thankfully, the Maple Leafs and Senators obliged us by having Toronto heavyweight Jay Rosehill take on Ottawa scrapper Zack Smith at the end of the first period in Ottawa’s 5-0 ravaging of the Maple Leafs. Sure, the Sens won the game, but they got to look uglier for their efforts courtesy of the fightin’ Leafs.

Here’s your morning moment of zen.

Not a fan of Rosehill trying to wrestle Smith down at the end of the fight. Looks like the old cheap Laraque wrestle move. Anyone can throw a few punches and tackle a guy. You can not be considered a heavyweight if you try a Wrestling move on a player after you threw a few punches. Did Probert every do that, Kocur??? No they didn’t and no other real fighter n the league today doesn’t do that!!! You have to drop your opponent, or let them hang in there if you cant. Players like Dubinsky try to tackle players after they throw like 2 punches. It’s a cheap move that doesn’t belong in hockey. What next bringing in a chair from the first row? lol. To make a long story short, Rosehill is not a heavyweight until he quits trying Hulk Hogan type moves on people. BTW The failed tackle happens at :20 seconds of this video.
