I'm not a Caps fan, but this story is clearly one sided and ignoring known facts on the other side of the argument.
This is a clear case of an agent dropping the ball and now trying to not look bad. The Caps clearly informed Belanger and his agent that a deal was not set in stone unless the Caps could make a trade and that if they had another deal to make... they better take it becasue there were no promises a Washington trade would be made.
Belangers agent then was the one who actually leaked word of a done deal... which was a clear lie. I guess he did that in an effort to force the Caps hand, but such a move all but killed the chances od Washington making a trade. Once they couldn't get a trade done, it was game over on a possible deal.
Theres nothing underhanded here by Washington, and the only one in the wrong was Belangers agent. If there is a lawsuit anywhere, he should sue his agent for screwing up any possible deal.
