I guess they could try putting him on re-entry waivers, to see if somebody (anybody, Lord!) would take him at half his salary — $2.250 million. I’m not sure whether any team that acquires him that way would be responsible for Souray’s $4.5 mil salary next season. If the Oilers can’t move him, can they simply pay him not to play under the current CBA?
