Video: Mike Modano takes the ice in Wings gear for the first time

Sep 9, 2010, 3:26 PM EDT

If you haven’t gotten your dose of reality in a while, it’s about high time you did. Prepare to rub your eyes in disbelief at seeing longtime Dallas Star Mike Modano taking the ice for the first time as a member of the Detroit Red Wings. If you’re not prepared to see such a drastic change, we understand.

We know it’s a bit freaky to see a guy who has played his whole career for one team suddenly appear in the jersey of a hated rival. It’s nothing new for the Red Wings considering they went through this once before with Chris Chelios, but it’s unnerving just the same for fans on either side of the fence. Get used to it though, Modano figures to get plenty of time centering the third line along side Dan Cleary and Jiri Hudler.

It’s so strange seeing him in a Wings uniform.

Not a big fan of Modano and as a native Michigander living in DFW I’ve been pretty vocal about how the Stars organization did him dirty.
Past his prime? More than likely. But he certainly wasn’t the Achilles heel of the Dallas Stars.
    Welcome, Mo & GO WINGS!!

I have to agree with Joe on this one. He is a Star and has played there almost his entire career. I am not a big fan of him jumping ship for the Wings even if it is the Wings. I can’t get used to this red and white.
