I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again! Bettman is an idiot!!!
If you want to stop the “dirty hits”, it has to be done on the team level. A “FINE” and couple game suspension is not going to do it.
But if a team or player knows that a “DIRTY HIT” could cost them dearly, then those hits will become less & less over time.
Money (fines) doesn’t work alone, small suspensions doesn’t work alone. But you combine a large fine with a month of game suspension and no-pay for that month of non-playing time, then players & teams will think twice before they deliver that hit that could end a players career or a teams chances of making the playoffs.
I can see “Pronger” pulling back already! No longer will we have to sit and listen to ” I didn’t mean to hit him in the head, it’s just that he is much shorter than me!”
