Not sure why its the PENS AGAIN….. Let’s see some OTHER teams. Perhaps the DEVILS vs RANGERS…??? The PENS… AGAIN???? Come on! Give me a break… that is week planning… DEVS vs RANGERS in NYC…. THAT WOULD BE A GAME. Talk about rivalries.. I agree with picking a NEW team like the CAPS? But the PENS AGAIN??? Are they the new LIONS of the NHL?

P.Pan I understand where your coming from. I was not trying to bash Pittsburgh (with an H), or the Penguins (with a G). I don’t usually spell them on a regular basis and never in a hurry like I did last night. I honestly don’t know where you got that from, so pull in those horns. What I wanted to get across was this. In the short life of the winter classic we get to see Pittsburgh for a second time. Even though their the ones hosting it, it still comes down to the same team being treated to it again. Other teams have had significant events leading into the winter classis, and they haven’t gotten in. By the way I’m not against any one player, including Crosby. Matter of fact I think he’s a great player that is the victim of the leagues over exposure. I enjoy hockey for hockey’s sake, and I’d love to see new teams every year. I don’t want the winter classic to turn into the NFL dead zone that is the Detroit lions Vs whoever year in and year out. It just seems to take away from what the winter classic was meant to be.

I disagree with your assessment K Blair and by the way, that’s Penguins with a G not a Q and Pittsburgh with an H… this is the NHL’s dream matchup between the Capitals and Penguins and yes the Penguins have been in the game once already but they have not hosted it. It’s going to be a special year in Pittsburgh with the new Consol Energy Center opening so let the city have it’s moment with the Winter Classic as well. I am so tired of people who come on here and bash Pittsburgh and the Penguins organization, like everything is handed on a platter. And by the way I would much rather see Crosby’s face plastered everywhere during the season instead of monkey man Ovechkin.

I know that Bettman and the rest of the NHL executives are bound and determined to showcase their self proclaimed face of the NHL, golden boy Sidney Crosby, but can we please see someone else other than the Penquins in the winter classic! Seriously, I see nothing but Crosby’s face or likeness plastered everywhere during the season. This is not meant to “bash” Crosby, it’s just that there are alot of other teams and “star power” players out there. After the past winter classic’s I start to think what teams and what venue will be showcased next year. Now, however it comes down to who’s going to play against Crosby’s penquins close to or in Pittsburg. There are 30 teams in the NHL maybe next year we can start to see teams from other markets. I know that the games will have to stay on the east coast, or north of the border. That is where the weather conditions will support an outdoor game, but please lets start to see all the teams get a chance to play on New Years day.
