Of course people are always going to slam EVERY transaction the Leafs make because, well, it's the Leafs. Everyone hates the Leafs for the simple fact that they are still in the NHL to begin with. If the Leafs folded, that would probably receive loud cheers from everyone else in hockey. Is this supposed to be a GOOD thing for the NHL, for the Leafs to be so bad so that everyone else can point out the Leafs as hockey's so-called laughingstock franchise?
Colby Armstrong will bring some physical, hard-hitting hockey to the Leafs' lineup, & boy do they need it. He just might pot 20 goals as well. I like this signing myself.

Brandon, I think you are reading the scoresheet just a little too closely. Look, I'm a fan of stats. I think they mean a lot more than old-timers (read: people who think intangibles and folk wisdom are more important than facts) give them credit for. But, in this case, you're overlooking what Armstrong showed with the dismal Thrashers: he's a very tough, very charismatic forward who never takes a night off and who (I'm making myself a little nauseous here) is scrappy, gritty, hustly, and even a bit David Eckstein-ish. Barf. No really. He actually never stops moving, hitting, agitating, clearly he's a leader on the ice, and he has a knack for being in the right place when the other team screws up. You can't find that in the box score, you have to see it. Craig Adams is the same player, just with even less skill. Also, when he has a decent line to play on, Armstrong puts up points in addition to the other things he can do. I bet that if Toronto put Armstrong on the top line, he'd have 80 points this year. Is that worth 3M dollars? Only the Leafs know for sure!
