As a Stars fan, thank you Mike for all you have done both in MN and Dallas as well as on the international level. It's been a pleasure to watch you. Where ever you wind up, I wish you well.
Also, kudos to Joe Nieuwendyk for making such a tough call on a friend and former teammate. It is time for the younger Stars centers to step up and show what they can do. We have a glut at center and not a lot of money to work with.
Go Stars go!

I don't see him going anywhere else. Mo will always be a Star and I see him retiring now for the following reasons:
1) Not too many teams will pick him up because he hasn't played anywhere close to a full season in years. Modano is getting old and he doesn't have that youthful body any more. I don't see too many teams taking a risk on putting him in the lineup.
2) He has already mentioned that he would like to be in the group that purchases the Stars from Tom Hicks. That was mentioned months ago and I believe that he has the passion to be a great owner for this team.

The Stars havent played well since Mike has moved off the top line they are inconsistant and out of the play offs every year. Tired of waiting and now they have decided AGAIN not to give him a contract. Can't they remeber what happened last time. I hope he does decided to play and goes somewhere else this year it will be nice to see him in the play offs one more time before he retires while the Stars once again will be at home. I for one will watch whatever team he goes to

Great. Now I have absolutely no reason to watch hockey. Modano was THE face of the Stars for good reason.

As a fan of Mike Modano, I would love to see the Blues pick him up for a season. Having said that, it wouldnt make much sense to do that with the direction that they are going in. Who knows, maybe he can come in as a mentor for the younger players now that Tkachuk is gone.
Also, former Stars GM Doug Armstrong is now the Blues GM, that would mean Modano is familiar with the Blues too, right?
If Modano does decide to retire, we wish him the best and thank him for the great hockey that he put on display for 20+ years.
Here's to the Real Captain America!!
