The only difference in Philly talking to Turco and Philly talking with Nabokov is the Sharks asked for compensation to speak. Dallas didn’t require it, thus nothing was made of it.

Teams can allow other teams to talk to their players who are pending free agents. They can also decline their permission, and if a team talks to a free agent to be without permission, then it’s tampering
Also, the Flyer never traded for Nabokov’s rights-they got permission from San Jose on the condition that if he signed in Philly before July 1st, the Flyers would compensate the Sharks with a 2011 pick.
If you’re going to write an article on hockey, maybe do the twenty minutes of research that would have answered your question and saved us all the time.

See the trade/UFA deal the Flyers did years ago for bust Chris Gratton. It was a sign and trade thing before FA. the Flyers are good at this. JR was signed immediately also. Like the guys comment about Florio. Love PFt but Hockey talk is long over due. lets go flyers

no…its not tampering because the flyers were given permission. so turco cud of accepted the contract verbally and than the flyers wud of probably given the stars a late round pick in exchange for turco, and than would of technically signed him. LUCKILY for us flyers fans he didnt sign. first i wud want a young goalie with talent and potential such as jonathan bernier, than i wud settle for nabokov, and than i wud just sign leighton. i DO NOT WANT turco or thomas.

makes no sense since friday they have the rights to talk to Nabokov. Who i think will turn down flyers and sign with washington.

Lebrun already pointed out that Dallas gave Philly permission. Also I’d have to check the exact date, but I believe in the CBA you can talk to agents before july 1st.
This is really no different then Boston telling Thomas’s agent that he can look for a trade.
