I think if Cam Neely’s first move is to try to get rid of Marc Savard, I will not like Neely as president. Mark Recchi’ statement about Savard were not very encouraging. I don’t know why they wouldn’ relish a Savard, Sequin, Lucic line.

Remember Savard is one solid hit from being out of the league. That being said you cannot overlook his upside.
If its the Leafs, could be for Grabo and a young D man prospect. I don’t see it being Grabovski 1 for 1. Or a 3-way deal that ships Savard & Thomas out, Kaberle and Thomas to third team, Grabo and prospect(s) to the B’s, Savard and additional cap money to be eaten by the Leafs.

The Bruins are stupid if they trade Marc Savard. They should concentrate on getting rid of their 5 million $ back-up goalie. They maynot have Sturm for most of the season, he just had his 2nd serious knee injury in the last 2 yrs. granted Marc Savard had a bad year injury wise last year, but you could see the difference with him there and not there. Marc savard has a center with Sequin and Lucic as his wingers is what the management team should be salavating over.

I am and always will be a Bruins fan.. I understand fully that players come and go.. It sucks, and it’s hard when it’s one you love.. I love Marc Savard. and not just for his eyes.lol.. But I see it both ways… Yes he is fantastic, and the thought of him with Kessel, and getting the Savvy chant makes me sad.. But his injury is huge, as well as his paycheck.. The B’s will do what they seem to think is best.. If Savvy goes let’s just hope it’s for the best.. AND at home games, I will not join in the chant, if thier is one. TIME WILL TELL.. UNTIL THEN NO ONE KNOWS!!!!!!!!!!! STANLEY CUP 2011!!!!!!

Take it. Savard was and is a great player. I feel bad for the guy, but he’s one elbow away from a career-ending injury. That $4-mil cap hit doesn’t look so great when he’s in early retirement. There are 7 MORE YEARS on that contract. He’s 33 next month. Do the math.
They key, here, is to unload the contract of a player who won’t be in the NHL in 3 years, and get a roster player in return.
Sorry folks, but the Savard contract is bad. He’s got to go. By this time next year, we won’t get a penny for him.
Besides, we ALWAYS win in deals with Toronto … Tuukka Rask, Tyler Seguin … there’s a midas touch. Don’t fight it

Great article defending Savard James O’Brien! The Bruins powerplay with and without Savard last year (21% vs. 12%) was evidence enough of his impact to the team. He is one of the top 5 passers in the NHL! He had a rough Philly series (after winning Game 1 in OT in his first game back) but he shouldn’t have been playing at all. If you trade Savard then all of the B’s offseason momentum and offensive improvement is lost. Like you say lets hope PC isn’t that dumb. But I’m worried because ran Kessel out of town last year that he doesn’t like skilled offensive players who aren’t bangers or great in their own end. And once someone gets in his doghouse they’re gone. Let’s hope PC doesn’t run Savvy out but I’m worried. Ghostrider you’re a moron.

James O’Brien, I can’t agree more with your assessment here. I personally think that Savard is going nowhere. Seguin has played wing in minor hockey and I’m sure that he could play wing again and wait for an opportunity to present itself later. It is always a bonus when you have a winger who can take a faceoff when the centerman gets waived out. Grabovski makes no sense for another reason. He is a centerman and the reason for trading Savard would be because they have too many centerman. This proposed trade solves nothing other than making the Bruins a weaker team. I can’t see this deal happening.

Savard only played 40 or so games last year. And when he was out their was talk he might not return to play again.Yes his salary is good but the term isnt. So with all the red flags u say he worth more. U be lucky you get a roster player if any. Yes hes talented but too big of a risk thats why low value for him. One hit and retirement might be for SAVARD. So Boston doesnt need him and they know they cant ask for a guy coming off a very serious injury. If boston wanted Kaberle u have to give Toronto a whole lot more than savard.But i have a feeeling Burke already has a place for Kabs just waiting for offers to get better.Good to be a Leaf fan .
Toronto will get him. Stalberg Savard Kessel speed speed speed = explosions. Plus free agency fill ins turning out to be a good summer.
