Tim Thomas is a great goalie, and supposedly a great teammate. Getting him in Philly could mean THE CUP! That’s why I think our management won’t get him. Because it would be the right thing to do!

Not a fan of an aging and overpaid Nabokov coming to Philadelphia. Would much prefer upgrades to the defense/3rd line and re-signing a (presumably) affordable Leighton.

Thomas’ contract is what is making other GM’s hesitant to make a trade for him rather than his age. He did not play poorly last year but the team in front of him did. Boston was asking Thomas to play like he did two years ago, when he stood on his head, while the team couldn’t score more than 2 goals a game on the opps. He couldn’t do it alone last year. Thomas is still the Vezina trophy winner of two seasons ago. For a team with the cap room, he would be a good solid choice for goaltender.

this article is complete bs… tim thomas has not lifted is NMC he has just been given permission from the GM peter chiarelli, via email, to talk to other teams if they, thomas and his agent, were contacted by other teams of interest. also quoted by chiarelli, “Tim has never asked to be traded. Tim wants to be a Boston Bruin.”
