2010 NHL Entry Draft: Almost ready

Jun 25, 2010, 6:50 PM EDT

We’re just minutes from kicking off the draft, and we still don’t have any word on impending trades.

We also have plenty of seats available.

Now, they’re starting to fill in as we countdown the minutes to the first pick but this is a far cry from the atmosphere in Montreal.

I wouldn’t have expected anything different.

let’s see… it’s 4 o clock in Los Angeles on a sunny June Friday. why not hold this on Saturday morning? seriously, I’d be surprised if most people who wanted to be there could get in the building and in their seat by 6pm.
think how many wanted to attend the Laker parade last Monday but had to work, which is why there were only 65,000 in attendance.
also, the Kings pick 19th. so probably 7pm? 8?

just a bit more clarification on this.
there is a huge (100,000+) concert going on at the Coliseum, roughly 3 miles to the south of Staples Center today starting at 2PM. the Dodgers are playing the Yankees for the first time in L.A. in three years at Dodger Stadium, about 4 miles north of Staples Center and they opened the parking lot there around 4pm. all use the same freeway to help get people to these venues.
your own blog notes what a good crowd was taking part in the festivities outside, and the audience on tv looks pretty decent almost 90 minutes and 10 picks in right now.
yes it’s not Montreal. that much is clear…
