last time I check over 40 goal scores with rich history in a team are worth a 7 mill contract so clam up about it. Thornton does how up, and did show up this season. He carried them through the detroit series, marleau too. Good move by the sharks here today. They gotta sign malhotra and nichol now.

Lars, Couldnt disagree with you more. Thornton might not get goals but he does everything out there. Sure in the hawks series he was getting clobbered by Bolland, but Thornton sets up that whole offense. Marleau, clowe, heatley all benefit from thornton's work in the boards, his faceoff percentage, and his presence on the ice. Smart teams know to put a goon on him because if they don't he runs rampid on the ice, and that's why it looks like he disappears.
on a side note I am soooo happy Marleau and pavs will be back. should be able to fill the roster up just fine, plus the cap will probably go up a bit.

If the Sharks have any chance they need to shed themselves of Joe Thornton. He is soft and disapears in the big games. Never puts a big hit on an opposing player when his teamates are getting roughed up.Sets the tone for mediocrity on the ice and probably in the locker room. Clearly the most overated player in the NHL
