I didn’t say I was confident in them, but I don’t think it would take a “miraculous” return to form for Steve Mason…I think there is a solid chance he has a good year, he’s 22 and played better towards the end of last year. The CBJ have the worst D in the league, they need to get some defensman, not a new goalie.
Regardless, Steve Mason is their guy and they aren’t going to try and bring in someone else or give up on him at age 22.

How any CBJ fan can be confident in a Mason/Garon duo is beyond me. Barring a miraculous return to rookie form by Mason, the Jackets look to be in a 2a/2b situation in net, and they’re not going to go anywhere in that situation.

That’s why I put Columbus in the “less promising” category. Forgive me if my confidence is low in a career backup (Garon) and a player who crashed to earth in his sophomore slump-tastic season.

How is Columbus a destination? They have Steve Mason as the starter and Mathieu Garon solidified as his back up who can also step in if needed if Mason struggles. The Jackets aren’t in the market for a goalie at all.
