While I’m glad that my Hawks won, it wasn’t nearly as easy as Chicagoland believed it was going to be – that’s because the Flyers played extremely well. The luck was spread around evenly, I think. The officiating sucked (also evenly, looking objectively) – there were bad calls on both sides of the rink. [Take last night as an example: Pronger got a phantom hook/hold/whatever and Hossa's "goalie interference" call was brutal.]
My congratulations to the Flyers for making it as far as they did – they were 2 wins (and maybe 2 goals) away from winning the Cup after coming into the playoffs on the bad side of the draw and coming back from a 0-3 deficit. Some of the players who were described as “thugs” in Chicago were actually very talented players (Hartnell, Richards, Leino), while others actually were thugs (Carcillo, Pronger).

Thanks for taking cheap shots at the Flyers, it must hurt that your team(s) will NEVER have as much heart as Philadelphia did this year. The Blackhawks are a good team, but they certainly got lucky in the first two games; they could have easily gone the other way. In the end, they didn’t and the Hawks were able to finish it all. As big as the Hawks finally ending their 49 year drought will be the Flyers coming back 0-3; the list of Stanly Cup winners is much longer than the list of teams that have accomplished that feat. Regardless, congrats to the Hawks. Thank you for an awesome year Flyers! I can’t wait til October!

Congrats to the Blackhawks. It was a well played series. Having won the series, why would you feel the need to come here and badmouth the #7 seed which just made a run much more inconceivable than your team. And Pittsburgh fans, get that crap out of here. Your team choked and your quarterback is a rapist, so just go back to your coal mine and look forward to your black lung.

As a long time Flyers fan, I salute them. No one expected them to get this far. Congratulations to the Black Hawks. Really no other time I would rather have seen the cup go to. Niemi was the better goalie. Leighton let in 2 soft goals in Game 6 and the Flyer paid for it. It was a wonderful ride. Can’t wait for next season.

As far as the MVP goes, most folks seem to be ignorant of the fact that it’s awarded to the MVP of the entire playoffs, not just the Finals. Toews was leading in points (at least prior to last night’s game).

Brandon: the Hawks were lucky? How about good? The best thing about the Hawks Stanley Cup was seeing the Flyers (Flowers) fans shut the hell up after Kanes goal. Philly fans booing the Hawks after the game shows they have no class

The Pens have won 3 cups in the past 18 years. Flyers haven’t won one since 1975. And, the Eagles will never win a Super Bowl. The Steelers have 6 rings.

First, @Kirsty the booing was for Gary Bettman…and frankly he should be booed he’s horrible for the game! The Flyers have had an amazing come back from a season that no team should have to face. I’ve never seen a team go through so many goaltenders in one season! They did amazing and should be proud of themselves. Someone once said to win a stanley cup you have to be good and you have to be lucky. The Hawks got lucky! Congrats to them. Flyers thank you for an unforgettable season!

wow Jeff way to be a sore winner, same thing Rob Pittsburgh is just as bad of a city, the Pens only one a cup because the NHL gave you one besides that not even the topic the Flyers outplayed Chicago in the first 4 games, no doubt about it, if you dont think so open your eyes, but you know it must be easy making into the playoffs no problem and getting to the finals with very little controversy, the Flyers went through more injuries in the playoffs then any other team had in a single season and still made it to the finals coaching was great and Pronger played really well, not to mention shunting down Buff every time he was on the ice, as far as the MVP go’s in no chance should Buff have been considered, he showed up for 1 game in witch he scored 1 goal, and a girly goal(empty netter) so in all reality he had 1 goal in the entire series
but when the rubber meets the road I guess its pretty easy to win a cup with the NHL and all of lady luck on your side, no doubt that Chicago go extremely lucky in the first 2 games

Unfortunately the Hawks were the better team. I doubt they are in for a long run though. The salary cap looms and those young players are going to want to get paid. Gotta give credit to the Flyers for taking us on a great post season ride.

Well done to hawks. Clearly the better team, but Philly kept it interesting. Thought Kane or Buff should’ve been MVP. Doubt Hawks care much. They are set up to go on a looonnnggg run with that set of young players.

They were not capable of winning the cup, they lost in 6, needed overtime to win game 3 and barely held on in game 4. An average team, they got their ass kicked!
