Its really funny how everyone is saying NBC announcers are rooting for the Hawks but if you watched Verus it was the other way around. Well I hope you Flyer fans realize that you have been grounded. Yes, the refs missed the brier bleeding high stick call, but they also missed the cross check in the back to Hossa which sent him into the locker room for ten minutes. At least this game they were closer to fair, unlike the last four games which have all been called in the Flyer’s favor — the last two games in Philly Leighton used his blocker to punch two Blackhawks as they skated by him, one each game.

Yeah, the refs missed the Brier bleeding high stick just like they missed the Hossa cross check in the back at the blue line with a ref right next to them that sent Hossa to the locker room for ten minutes. I think the refs missed things on both sides, but at least it’s not all 1 sided misses like it has been the last four games (where Chicago was called for everything while Flyers got away with crap left and right — like the TWO times Leighton – once each the two games in Philadelphia – used his blocker to punch Blackhawks in the head as they skated by!).

I had to rewind and play back in slow motion to check it again, but I don’t understand how that was incidental. The Flyer was not touched by any other player. . .no one was even around him and he DOVE, head first, into Nieme’s pad. He was not pushed, he didn’t trip, etc. He dove…Anyone that has rewind can check it out. Maybe I’m totally missing something? How in the world is diving into a goalie, incidental?

Lela, it was incidental contact. i hope you are not talking about the old skate in the crease rule. that was 8 years ago.
ps the refs sucked tonight. they were pretty good up until tonight. called ticky tack garbage early on and then missed a bunch. nice to see that when chicago and the media complain about the big bad flyers and it gets close, the whistles start to blow (along with the refs). oh, nice miss on the briere bleeding high stick. of course, last game chicago gets a 5 on 3. tonight, missed call.

How do keeo on-air announcers who are so biased toward one team and actually comment that a player dersves to be hit hard or hurt? You need to replace your anouncers, or have some guts to discipline them… horrendous coverage so far by a national broadcast team!

Hey Davec, I wish you were right about the media, that bald creep is Chicago all the way and McCreepy has been against Flyers forever, Chicago has been whining about Ref’s and have no reason for it. The announcer is supposed to be bias but he is far from it. NBC sucks having him do the games.
