2010 Stanley Cup Finals: Michael Leighton to start in Game 2

May 30, 2010, 6:30 PM EDT

Leighton3.jpgAfter Peter Laviolette decided to pull Michael Leighton in last
night’s game, despite the Flyers being down just a goal in the 2nd
period in a game that was obviously not a ‘normal’ Stanley Cup game, you
knew that most of the news today would center around whether Leighton
or Brian Boucher would start today.

Then Laviolette refused to tell the media today who would be
starting, and it seemed that neither Leighton nor Boucher knew who was
starting either.

After word started to leak that Leighton would in fact get the start,
the Flyers have officially announced the Michael Leighton will indeed
be in net tomorrow night in Game 2.

Earlier today, Chris Pronger was asked about the goaltender situation
and if Laviolette decided to go with Boucher that would be sending the
wrong message to the team. Pronger wasn’t biting.

“That’s the coach’s decision,” Pronger said. “We play the same way
whether Bouch is in the net or Leights is in the net. It doesn’t matter,
it shouldn’t matter to us in front of him. We need to play better in
front of him whoever is in the net. That’s the bottom line for us. It
doesn’t matter.”

This is why sticking with Leighton is the right choice. The
goaltending wasn’t the reason the Flyers allowed five goals on 20 shots
in the first and second period; he was far from perfect, but the Flyers
played extremely poor in front of him as well. Pronger feels if the
Flyers are able to clear up their approach, then they’ll be in much
better shape moving forward.

“[I'm] more concerned with how the goals were scored, just through
defensive lapses, really,” Pronger said. “It wasn’t like they created a
whole lot. It was more on our mistakes. And I guess that could be
disheartening and a positive thing. We can clean that up and we won’t
be allowing as much.”

NO MATTER WHAT PETER LAVIOLETTE DOES AND NO MATTER WHAT OTHER CHANGES OR ARRANGEMENTS HE MAKES TO BOLSTER THE FLYERS’ CHANCES OF RECOVERING FROM GAME 1 LOSS,(IT) HAS BEEN DECIDED BY THE NHL TOP BRASS TO SEND THE STANLEY CUP TROPHY TO WHERE? TO CHICAGO OF COURSE !!WHY?WELL,THE GUY WHO IS OCCUPYING THE WHITE HOUSE IS SUPPOSEDLY FROM CHICAO AND HE IS TO BE KEPT IN THE LIMELIGHT FOR THE TIME BEING AND BY HOISTING THE TROPHY,IT IS NOT ONLY THE BLACKHAWKS WHO WILL BASK IN GLOEY!! BUT ALSO THE GUY WHO IS FACING A MYRIAD OF SELF-INFLICTED PROBLEMS AT HOME AND ABROAD !!!!

agree and aliens are coming to watch game 7. What about maybe the fact that the Hawks have a strong team and have worked all season to get to the finals. I think that might have more to do with it than who is in office or then again maybe its the aliens.

He will “bask in the gloey”? What exaclty is gloey? Is it something that the tea-baggers came up with? Of course your theory about the league wanting Chicago to win would have more credibility if the penalties were all on Philly, instead of the other way around. I’m sure Obama wants Chicago to win. Why would you expect him to give up his pride in his city? Since hockey is a cult sport at best, I doubt a Hawks cup win will take away from the economy, which is of course, the prior president’s fault. You aren’t one of those birther idiots, are you? Stick to hockey,db.

You’re right on one point…the Stanley Cup will be in Chicago.
Regarding the conspiracy theories…actually Hossa IS an alien.

    FLYERS IN 5 CHUMPS

Give me a break – FLYERS OUTPLAYED THE HECK OUT OF THOSE BUMBS. Neimi is the only reason they even made the playoffs. CHICAGO STINKS – GO FLYERS – a REAL TEAM. If obama goes to a game, hopefully he gets hit with a puck. Wait til he puts a 25% federal tax on all sporting event ticket sales!

Cup has to go to Philly although I hate the Cryers. Why? Because of Hossa, of course. Jumped from my Penguins after they lost to Detroit in ’08 because he thought he had a better chance to win the Cup. Pennies beat ‘em in ’09 so he jumped ship again to go to Chicago. Hawks are vastly superior and likely will win, but don’t forget about the Hossa jinx.

LISTEN GRIMJACK(ASS),MAY BE IT WAS A TYPING MISTAKE,MAY BE LALU DA SILVA MENT GLORY.IT IS SO SAD TO SEE GROWN-UPS LIKE YOU BECOME PICKY ABOUT A TYPING MISTAKE WHEN YOU CAN’T FIND LOGIC TO NEGATE OTHERS .LOOK WITH YOUR OPEN EYES AND SEE WHERE LETTER (R) & LETTER (E) ARE LOCATEDON ON YOUR KEYBOARD.GET A LIFE !!!!!!

  9. grimjack - May 31, 2010 at 2:40 PM

Or maybe, mullah, you and da silva are the same person? You both type in CAPS, which is a universal sign of stupidity. It is kind of difficult to use logic to negate an illogical argument, isn’t it? THe NHL wants Chicago to win, to distract from the current administrations problems? How come they didn’t have the Dallas Stars win in 2002 to distract from 9/11? Although to the birther morons, I suppose Obama created the oil spill. When you act like a dumbass, mullah/da silva, you should expect to be identified as such.

  10. mullah - May 31, 2010 at 3:27 PM

WHY CAN’T YOU GET IT IN YOUR THICK HEAD THAT U.S IS ALREADY DEAD.DO YOU THINK A FOREIGNER WHO HOLDS A BRITISH PASSPORT WILL HAVE MERCY ON YOU ??? HE WAS EXACTLY APPOINTED FOR THIS JOB TO DESTROY EBERYTHING BENIGN ABOUT THE U.S.THE OIL SPILL IS JUST ONE EXAMPE OF HOW THE BRITISH ARE MOVING THEIR AGENDA FORWARD BY PLANTING ONE OF THEIR SWORN MERCENARIES AT THE WHITE HOUSE.VERY SOON,YOU WILL BE NEXT-IN-LINE WHO WILL BE SCREWED WILDLY BY THIS BRITISH AGENT.TAKE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE !!!!!

  11. grimjack - May 31, 2010 at 3:48 PM

Because I am not a complete and utter moron, mullah (unlike yourself). The British are coming? Really? You are a couple hundred years late, aren’t you? And still typing in caps, I see. How are the British going to get me? By making me eat too many chips? All I care about is the Flyers winning the cup in 6 games. Should the British destroy the world after that, oh well. I thought you balls-in-mouthers thought Obama was from Kenya? Get your false stories straight, will you, or I tell Glen Beck on you.
