think you guys are missing the bigger picture. and that is the NHL being stupid. Crosby and Ovie are the stars. they are the ratings. this is a good idea. Whats stupid is to have a 2nd outdoor game. are we going to have 3 next year, 4 after that? Just like putting hockey in Atlanta, Nashville, and Arizona was a bad idea to “grow the game.” multiple out door games will take away from whats special about the winter classic.
Rangers fan… i bet you get Devils VS Rangers in the new stadium next year!

UGH. I knew this was coming, but as a Caps fan I was really hoping they would play their Winter Classic up in New York. Who on earth would want to spend New Year’s Eve in Pittsburgh?

It has something to do with Sid, but its more directed towards the rivalry between Sid and Ovy. A regular season game between them brings in a lot more viewers, let alone a winter classic game. The NHL hierarchy isnt trying to shove the Pens down our throats (although Im not opposed to it, GO PENS), they are trying to shove money down their pockets. Not like anyone wants to watch the Columbus Blue Jackets play…

Can you shed any light on if Pittsburgh stepped up and volunteered to go to Buffalo for the first Winter Classic? Rumors are all over the internet saying other owners didn’t want to be the away team and shied away from the thought. Any truth to that?

Why do the Penguins get to play in another Winter Classic? Twice in three years? Give me a break!! I guess the NHL hierarchy want to shove more of Sidney Crosby and crew down the throats of NHL fans. No thanks, I’ll pass.
