I would like to see them sign a free agent lock down D-man; they have some great young talent on D, like Carlson and Alzner. I think it would benefit them to have a Defensive-minded D-man mentor. That will also take some pressure off of Green so he can stay offensive minded. The way semin is playing with fedorov in the worlds maybe they can bring him back to play on the second line with semin.

I wonder how Nylander feels about backing out last minute on the Oilers now? He would have at least got the opportunity to play there.

Nylander's contract won't rear its ugly head for a couple of reasons. First, his no-movement clause ends on July 1, 2010, so even if no KHL, Finnish, SEL, or AHL team will take him on a loan, the Caps can bury him in Hershey and just never play him there.
Second, burying Nylander in Hershey won't hurt the Caps as much because he's only getting paid 3 million this year, with a cap hit of 4.875 million. That might actually make him a somewhat valuable asset for a team that needs a veteran scoring center, but doesn't have a whole lot of money to spend (e.g. Nashville, Phoenix).
