Philly teams NEVER get the respect they deserve- until
they're parading down Broad street w/ the Cup or the trophy.
Check it out: I follow the national blogs from here in the
midwest, because it's hard for me to catch a Phillies game, or a Flyers game, unless they're playing the Brewers/Blackhawks etc.
For the past 3-4 years, I've had to listen to:
How the Rays will blow out the Phillies....
How the Dodgers will blow out the Phillies...
How the Caps/Bruins will bury the Flyers.....
the list goes on and on.....
The fact is: opinions are like sphincters- they all stink!
anyone with
access to the internet can offer their opinion re:
any team, any time. This doesn't make it true.
(I'm doing the same right now)
However- look at the stats: Wins vs. losses,
# RBI/game, GF/GA, etc.
Stats don't lie- they're only open to interpretation.
This is the way I interpret them:
This is the BEST Phillies team in history.
This is the best FLYERS team since '75.
Yeah, sure, I'm biased- I'm a Philadelphia fan!!!
But- that don't mean I ain't right!
Da Phils will be back in the playoffs AND the fall classic.
Flyers vs. Habs: Flyers in 6
Make your parade plans today, 'cause this is the Flyers year.

While you may be right, Mike Green and Sergei Gonchar hardly qualify as Chris Pronger defensively, give the Flyers the credit they have earned as well. Montreal is a fine team and have played terrific so far but they just entered what will eventually become an extremely physical series whether they like it or not. Six to nothing is quite a beating and they will soon turn up the physical game against the undersized Montreal forwards which they didn't need to use last night and the team's best goal scorer Jeff Carter is scheduled to return. If Gomez and Camalleri play as they did last night, this one will be over in a hurry, Halak or not. Coming from a fan of neither team, I would suggest that if they do not put forth the effort needed to WIN game 2 in Phila Tuesday night, you may want to call your sign man!!!

Not to spoil the Flyers fun, but... remember when the Caps blew the Habs out of the water early in their series? And then the Penguins did the same in their series against Montreal?
If not, it's easy to ask them since they're not doing much else these days.
This seems to be Montreal's M.O. this year- let it get ugly early, learn lessons from the blowout about the other team, and work hard to slowly wear their opponent down with that information in mind.
This isn't a sign of a fast series. This is just a sign that the Canadiens are getting ready to do the same thing they've done to their previous two opponents.

It seems like nobody is giving Flyers the respect they deserve. I know most of America hates them but, to come back in a series down 3 games and then in game 7 to come back again and now two days later to put on the butt kicking they did I think they deserve a lot of respect. I have Flyers beating the Candians in 6 games.
