Claude Giroux to play tonight vs. Bruins

As we gear up for a couple of big games tonight,, much of the news has to do the various injuries the teams are dealing with.

Well, here’s more.

Claude Giroux, who left Monday’s game against the Bruins with an injured left shoulder, will play tonight although he is still not completely healthy. It’s just the nature of teams playing in the playoffs, and how much hockey players are dedicated to doing anything necessary to win. From CBC Sports:

“I want to help the team win,” Giroux said. “It’s going to be a big game tonight - probably one of the biggest of the year, and we’ve got to make sure we’re focused and ready to go.”

Reports from practice were that Giroux wasn’t exactly a spry fella on the ice, as he took no slapshots and managed just a couple of wristers. So while his presence is definitely needed for the Flyers, you have to wonder if he’s going to be hampered too much to be effective. A healthy, less talented defenseman might be a better choice over an injured Giroux.
