Staal practices, closer to returning

May 5, 2010, 2:15 PM EDT

Jordan Staal may not play in Game 4 tomorrow in Montreal, but he’s
getting ever closer to doing what many (including myself) would be
impossible and returning in time to face the Canadiens in the second
round.

Staal was initially thought to be out for the playoffs when it
was reported he had surgery to repair a severed tendon on the top of his
foot. Now, mere days later, he took part in an optional skate for the
Penguins in full gear and was able to put weight on his foot.

The
team has maintained Staal as day-to-day with the injury, although I’d
hope that he wouldn’t return until he and the team are sure he’d at
least be effective. Per James Mirtle,
it seems that Dan Bylsma is optimistic:

“If he can
skate like that, there’s a possibility (he’ll play) depending on how he
is in the morning.”

well at least the game is on VS and not NBC so stall can drift outside and see the fans screaming and cheering for his team. which makes me wonder at what point NBC will realize that catering to the fans that would be loyal to the the network May help themselves more then alienating themselves from their fan base and placing all of their loyalty only in their own ratings. After getting a free ride with their NHL Coverage contract they refuse to allow teams to show their sold out games on the big screen because of their fear of missing out on a ratings point or two. Their defense? lol their only defense is a complete lack of a defense. To me this is a direct slap in the face of those people who represent the source of their popularity and thus their ratings. NBC is a greedy TV conglomerate and honestly it wont be hard to boycott the station since 99% of what they show is garbage… and when they do play something worth watching they find a way to screw that up too.
OK im done… just needed to vent after hearing that NBC shut down the big screen at Mellon arena with nothing but their own greedy existence in mind… It was for myself since its painfully obvious Nobody at NBC Gives a spit for me or any of the rest of you lol… G’day
