I must take exception of your explanation on how the octopus throwing started in Detroit. Back in the days of the Original Six, it took 8 wins to capture the Cup. Hence, the Octopi!

I have lived in Stockton CA for the last 7 years but was born and raised in the Detroit area and Sharks fans are without a doubt some of the best in the NHL.

2-3 years ago when the boys out here lost to Detroit in the 2nd round, a fan somehow got a 5 foot leopard shark into the arena and threw it on the ice after one of our goals. Everyone thought it was fake at first, but they scraped it up and put it in the Zamboni tunnel right below our seats — it was definitely the real deal. Still would love to know how someone smuggled a 5-foot Shark into the game. LOL…

Tuukka’s milkcrates episode has to be the best one of those, hands down in the top 10 things thrown.
Also, about the Caps hats deal (as a diehard Caps fan): we can’t always be responsible for the actions of bandwagoners. Even Caps fans on Twitter were going nuts about that too.
