I’m excited for the league to finally pay attention to Carolina on a national level (never on any VS telecasts, but who watches VS, anyway?) but I also feel for the ‘Yotes fans, they seem to be getting hosed quite a bit this season.

Why? Because Raleigh has a more developed, loyal, and enthusiastic fan-base than a lot of “Hockey Cities”. We have a great franchise that is supported well, and one that is gaining respect (albeit grudging respect) from other teams & cities in the league. Considering the fact that you say attending an All-Star game in Raleigh isn’t thrilling, I’d be willing to bet that the All-Star game & surrounding events will be MORE thrilling than some larger city where the event is just lost in a myriad of 1000 other events on that given week. Also consider that since 2002, Carolina has played in three playoff series, went to the ECF three times, won it twice, and won the Stanley Cup once. We’ll do well with this event. Really well. And probably a good bit better than most of the other teams in the league.
