I hope your post is sarcastic Dirty Joe, because I was at the game and watched replays. It is about as blatant and dirty an elbow to the head as you can get. Even yoru picture shows that.

After reviewing the hit again, he did not leave his feet. Colby’s back foot left the ground after the hit to swing around himself. He did’t catch Perrault “blind side” the way Marc Savard was hit, however MP was looking down. What is blatant is that instead of a check, it becomes a clothes line punch/forearm to the face. It should of been a 5 minute major and a match, and it should be suspended. Why? Because its a head shot plain and simple. If the NHL wants to enforce their new rule they’ll say a) the refs got it wrong and b) suspend him.
the first one is the biggest because they need to motivate the refs to make the new call when it happens. Having a rule that never gets called is the same as not having it at all.

Having your head on a swivel is one thing, having another player put his elbow in your face is another. That was an illegal play and deserves a suspension no matter how you look at it.

If you watched the game last night, it was NOT a blindside, and Armstrong did NOT leave his feet. Perreault knew exactly where Armstrong was. In the closeup replay, Perreault blatantly watched Armstrong come in and was EXPECTING a HIT, not an elbow to the face. You could see him jerk his head away when he realized that Armstrong was raising his forearm to his head. If it would have been a clean hit, even I would have enjoyed seeing it. Armstrong didn’t even get a penalty for that hit AT ALL! The holding was for the fracas he got into Morrisonn with.
So, let’s recap…Erskine and Armstrong go into the corner earlier in the game. In the scrum, Erskine gets high (appears accidental) in Armstrong’s face with a glove, and gets a penalty for it. Fast forward…Armstrong lines up Perreault for what would have been an awesome open ice hit, legally. Raises his arm and elbows Perreault in the face and gets NO PENALTY for it, but he and Morrisonn get 2 each for holding.
This is EXACTLY what needs to be eliminated from the game. Open ice hit…YAY! Elbow to face…BOO!

yo anonymous 5th comment! What are you smoking? Where are you from? What is your level of eye sight? Ovie would have gotten off b/c of who he is and has done that many of times?
I watch every game, never have I EVER seen Ovie come up with an elbow to someones face. Secondly, Ovie got two games for his hit to Campbell, yet Pittsburgh Adams had the same hit on him Feb 7th. Don’t believe me, youtube it, I was even AT the game. If he got off b/c of who he was, he wouldn’t have been suspended.
Colby clear as day, and I’ve played this game for 20 years understand stuff happens at the last minute, but swung his arm upwards. Had he kept his arm DOWN and came in with a shoulder, its clean; however, he didnt….get it right.

You're an idiot to think a suspension is uncalled for. It's not like it was a Mitchell on Toews hit. Perreault saw him at the last second, but he can't help it if Armstrong decides to punch him in the jaw. Armstrong didn't even try for legitimate open ice hit. Colby Armstrong always seems to be the target for “dirty hits”…lets get serious here people…hockey is hockey and will always be hockey. You need to have your head up when your on the ice…I mean your pretty stupid to be skating around unaware that a hard hitter is on the ice. Ya it might of been dirty…also a bit of retaliation either way to call it a trifecta is absolutely stupid!! A suspension would be just uncalled for…I always stand by this saying: head on a swivel!

if ovechkin delivered that hit he would only get a game or two. ovechkin has done things like that plenty of time and gets off lucky because who he is.

It isn’t a test of the new rules because it isn’t part of the new rules. It wasn’t a blindside hit, it was an elbow to the head, which has been illegal for a very long time.
