I have to agree, it does seem at times, that the NHL referees seem to be either blind, or worse. In just this last year, starting with the Stanley Cup finals, when Pittsburgh had 6 men on the ice, for nearly 30 seconds, the fans saw it, both benches saw it, the TV commentators remarked on it incredulously, but did the refs see it..uh uh. Pretty obvious miss.
The Ovenchkin hit was, I don't think intentionally dirty, but, if your a player, you don't hit from behind..Period. Anyone that actually plays the game knows this. Does it happen? all the time, should it..no, its against the rules..period. Its usually a dbl minor, because ovenchkin didn't intend to injure (at least I don't think he did)it probably could've stopped there, but Ovi has a history, he plays hard, and sometimes, with little discipline. This time, someone was hurt because he was "in the moment" Well, gotta have more discipline than that. Thats why he got the suspension. I don't think he was treated unfairly, and I'm willing to bet, he'll be more careful..thats why I think they suspended him. 2 games was light, considering the injuries.
I believe that Wiz should most definitely be suspended, it definitely has all the earmarks of a hit with intent to injure.

Wiz isn't happy about the Hawks trading him. But then again, maybe if he would've kept his salary demands reasonable, he'd still be a Hawk. The hit on Seabrook was vicious and I hope they suspend the jerk for at least 10 games. He was airborne and it was a deliberate intent to injure - which he did. Upset about Seabrooks heard but clean hit on Perry? Perry is one tough customer who can handle himself. If Perry was upset about Seabrooks hit, he would've dropped the gloves himself. Perry plays hard and rough and he knew Seabrooks hit was fair and HOCKEY. What Wizjerkski did is unacceptable. Two cheap/dirty shots and 2 of the Hawks top 4 Dmen are out. Maybe it's time to investigate NHL referees for either blindness or worse. Davorski and his partner should be suspended.
