They actually have won two cups with Osgood starting, and another with him as a backup.
Disrespect him all you want, but if the Wings hadn’t gotten so banged up and not choked in the finals, he would have won the Conn Smythe last year.

As a Flyer fan I heartily agree with Wingsrule76′s comments about the salary cup killing all the fun at the trading deadline. I just can’t wait to see the salary cap hell that the Pens have down the road when young players like Crosby, Malkin, Fleury, Staal, and Orpik come looking for their long term deals. I would love to have Slava back for the playoff drive. I just don’t see how it is possible under the cap. Maltby had to go on IR just to make room for Lilja, and there is zero room left. We would have to dump salary through the trade or the waiver wire.
I am not sure what Kozlov’s salary hit would be, but who would go to make room? All of the expendable parts are making at or near minimum as it is.

11:30 a.m. – Looks like the Morris trade to Phoenix was certainly with another move already in the works. TSN reporting that Florida has traded Dennis Seidenberg to Florida.
Times are getting so desperate teams are trading players to themselves…

do you think TB would think about moving Mike Smith ? They gave up a lot to get him 2 years ago ( Brad Richards ) but now he looks like the backup to Nittyimaki on a team that looks to be out of the playoffs. The Flyers have no goalies under contract for next year, would rather see them develope a young goalie than commit to another veteran in his mid 30′s

RE: Ray Whitney The word in the Raleigh area is not so much that the asking price from the ‘Canes is too high, but that Whitney’s requirement of getting a contract extension from the team picking him up is too much to ask, and Ray has final say due to his NTC. Apparently deals that would have sent him to the Kings and Pens have been killed because of this, and with the Pens picking up Ponikarovsky(sp?) it seems they’ve moved on.
I’m hoping Whitney will agree to be moved, but I doubt it’s going to happen.
