I am from Pittsburgh and LOVE the Pens.
The only outcomes that would have made me happy were Team USA winning gold or Sidney Crosby getting the winning goal for Canada.
He is the greatest hockey player in the universe!

Actually, Crosby himself was not booed, he was cheered (though not as loudly as Miller). Brooks Orpik was cheered just as much. What was booed in a “tongue-and-cheek” manner was the replay of the goal. The ‘burgh would never boo Crosby’s success just like we didn’t Lemieux’s in 2002.

Personally, I believe the reason he deserves the ovation (hopefully plural) is not just because of his performance during the tourney, but because despite his obvious dismay immediately after the game, all I can remember of the closing ceremony is Ryan Miller marching into the stadium, proudly wearing his silver medal and a smile from ear to ear…made me an immediate fan of his. THAT is why they play.

I was in Vancouver during the Olympics and was very proud of how gracious people were to anyone wearing a USA jersey. Canadiens cheered for Lindsey Vonn when she won the downhill and from what I can tell nobody booed any American at the games.
I’ll take Luongo over Miller any day of the week and if they don’t want Sid the kid, we’ll take him in Vancouver you can have Kessler! Pittsburgh obviously has an abundance of ignorant rednecks.

Relax, it was probably just for fun. I was at the Spectrum in Philadelphia when Lemieux came back from his cancer treatment. Before the game everyone gave him a 5 min standing ovation. When he assisted on the first goal everybody booed him. It was just a joke. Lemieux laughed, everybody had a little fun. Same thing here.
